Catherine Solan

Cathy is a BHSI certified FEI dressage rider, trainer, and clinician who owns and operates Precision Equestrian.

As a lifelong equestrian, Cathy has successfully competed in dressage through Intermediare, managed her own boarding and training facility in Maryland, and has implemented dressage and eventing programs at several facilities. She has taught numerous riders and horses of all ages and abilities to individual success in and out of the show ring and has instructed and coached multiple regional junior/young rider championship teams. Having a background in open junior jumpers and eventing, she also became involved in the initial formation of the USEA young horse program.

Cathy has had the good fortune to work with notable professionals such as George Williams, Jan Ebeling, Steffan Peters, and Jean Paul Pare among others. Her work with Jean Paul Pare has been the most influential of her career and she brings his principles of Equitation Logique to her own instruction. This method utilizes the mechanics of the horse and rider that “optimizes the collaboration between horse and rider and ultimately enhances their overall performance.”

Cathy works with riders at all levels and in all disciplines to achieve a greater understanding of the classic dressage principles to obtain balance, suppleness, relaxation and self-carriage. Each horse and rider is worked with as unique individuals with a program that works specifically for him or her.

In addition to her equestrian career, Cathy is a certified personal trainer who is uniquely qualified to teach rider fitness. She is a former elite powerlifter who competed globally for the US team under the International Powerlifting Federation for over 10 years. She combines her knowledge of riding and fitness to develop an individualized sport specific program for the rider.

It is imperative to inspire our horses to trust that we are dependable, predictable and worthy partners.
